Our First Official Family Vacation

So, after 11 years together and 3 kids later we are finally taking a full-fledged family vacation. Now being the bargain shopper that I am I have planned a trip to Washington, DC. Why Washington, DC you ask? Well, that is an easy question to answer and that is because most activities are FREE!!! Museums, monuments, a fabulous zoo and more.  Now, of course the whole trip is not free. We obviously had to find a place to stay. I found a great hotel that had all the necessities I wanted for less than $300 and I didn't have to choose to stay at a run down motel. I definitely wanted a room with a fridge and a microwave so we don't have to spend a ton on food. I do plan to eat out a bit, but I am currently in the research process to pick out the right restaurants. Hopefully I can keep this whole trip below $1000.  Have you been to DC with kids?
